Welcome to the museum
Somali heritage lives in family memories, landscapes, craftsmanship, language, and the stories passed between generations. This museum brings those connections together through illustrated exhibits and carefully researched storytelling. The collection begins here and will grow one exhibit at a time.

Explore this collection →Every exhibit has a story
Each full exhibit will identify its subject, Somali name where verified, place or community, and period where known. Its story will explain how it was used, who made or used it, and why it matters. Source notes and image credits will accompany the exhibit, with uncertainty acknowledged when details cannot be established.
Images and historical context
Original photographs, archival material, restored images, and interpretive illustrations will be identified in their captions. Reconstructed scenes help visitors imagine a subject; they do not establish the exact appearance of a historical object or event. Community memories will be distinguished from documented historical evidence.
Help preserve a story
